Making a Difference!!!

So I was in my car the other day and I heard this song, "Somebody's Hero" (thanks Melissa). It talked about how this woman had never done anything really heroic or important, like walking on the moon or walking down the red carpet, but everyday to her little girl she was a hero. Then she goes on and basically talks about being a mother and how important it is.(maybe not in those words but that's what I got from it .)

And that got me thinking, how sometimes as women we strive to make a difference in the world, and most the time it isn't in a way that will be televised to the world, but within the walls of our homes. But it is very hard to feel like we are making a difference, because everything we do gets undone. When we get one child to stop crying, the other two start, or when we get a dirty diaper changed, we see a pair of underwear on the floor next to a puddle, followed by a naked bum. Dishes, laundry, garbage it never really ends. In the songs she talks about how long and hard she works but she doesn't receive a paycheck, instead her payment is in kisses, hugs and "I love yous". I realized how true that is, every time one of my kids give me a kiss or tells me they love me, or on very rare occasions that I'm the best mom ever, it makes everything worth while. And the "payment" I receive means so much more than money, and lasts much longer.

I may not be seen in the worlds eyes as anyone special who has done something spectacular, but in my children s eyes I am a hero. Every time I make a pancake in the shape of a shark, or manage to do a cartwheel without ending up in the hospital, or bandage up a hurt knee, I'm a hero. And I can make a difference in this world, by raising good, honest, respectful children who will grow up and raise good children. Because that is what the world needs and that is what will make the biggest difference in this world.

What more could I ask for?

Does this look familiar to anyone? This is how Joel cleans his room. At least he did it all by himself and his floor is clean :)

Awww peace on earth good will towards Mom!!! Bailee took two naps last week and one today. I'm feeling so lucky. But I'm wondering if I should worry, because this is not normal, in fact it is almost unnatural.

Bailee has been on an exercise kick lately, so she puts in my work out video. This is on hour long video and she did it for almost the entire time. I love her booty action!!

Birthday girl!!!

Well my baby turned 2 yesterday and I'm sad, but I don't think it is because I want her to stay little, but because I know what is coming......the TERRIBLE TWOS!!!!! Oh well I've survived two kids going through it whats one more, right.....?
Anyways yesterday was a fun day. Sydney woke up to find balloons all over the house, which she was very excited about. Then we had a little party with some friends and she loved it. After nap time she opened up her presents, (without mom because daddy did it while I was at work, so I don't have any pictures). Last but not least the best part......the cake!!!!! I was so proud of this cake, I found it on the Family Fun website. But of course she didn't eat any of it, she's not into sugar it's really weird, she must not be my child :) All in all she had a good day, by the time she went to bed she was pretty worn out, mission accomplished!!!

Spring Break!!!

This is Sydney with Grandma and Grandpa at her birthday party, with the lovely cake that aunt Amber made!!

Joel helping Grandpa put soil in the garden and occasionally getting soil all over Grandpa :) He had so much fun.

A visit to the Aquarium. The kids had so much fun that is was hard to pull them away.

Dress up time in the store. My kids are addicted to sunglasses.

And this is how we traveled for 26 hours round trip, squished into our wonderful reliable car. But considering the alternative ( a very questionable van that always breaks down on or right before a trip), it went pretty well, plus it gets better gas mileage. But thanks to a lot of prayers, activities, movies and Joel and I switching places for a majority of the trip we made it home safetly with some sanity still intacked.

All in all it was a wonderful spring break, it was so much fun to see and spend time with family. But when we got home Joel informed me that he was done living in Ellensburg and that is was time to move in with Grandma and Grandpa Blue. He calls Justins parents Grandma and Grandpa blue instead of Grandma and Grandpa Brown because he likes the color blue more than brown and he figured he would change it, he can be so weird sometimes.
